Major-General Olivier Armstrong of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is tough yet fair, and this perspective helped her well in the ultimate battle against the wicked Father.
The Elric brothers and their mission are at the center of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. However, before long, the supervillain Father’s grand scheme is revealed, and Edward and Alphonse will need all the support they can get to save Amestris. Major-General Olivier Armstrong, who knows a thing or two about survival, is one of their best allies.
Major-General Armstrong differs from her muscular brother, Major Alex Louis Armstrong. Olivier is severe but fair, believing in the phrase “survival of the fittest” as the supreme law of the nation, alchemy or no alchemy. Her personal story supports this viewpoint, and Olivier soon joined the fight against Father and his homunculus.
Olivier Is The Eldest Daughter Of The Armstrongs
Olivier is a French actor. Mira Armstrong did not grow up in anonymity. She rose up the ranks not because of the status of her family — the powerful Armstrong family — but because of her own extraordinary abilities. She is the oldest of five children, and as a child, the others looked up to Olivier. As a Major-General in the Amestris military, she is also the highest-ranking and most powerful Armstrong. Olivier is a character who takes calculated risks throughout Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Olivier Armstrong assumed command of Fort Briggs, a dam-like fort in Amestris’ northernmost sector, close on the Drachma boundary. The Drachma frontier is a dangerous region since the powerful nation is always looking for an opportunity to attack Amestris and grab land. So it’s up to Fort Briggs to keep the border safe, and Major-General Armstrong is the embodiment of Briggs. The enormous Drachma army was kept at bay by her iron will, keen eyes, acute instincts, and tactical brilliance, and everyone, friend and foe, rapidly learnt to admire her and her ways.
Olivier is a firm believer in the “survival of the fittest” theory, and she will not make an exception for herself in vain. One misstep in a dangerous and mountainous area like Fort Briggs means death, and Olivier isn’t one to grieve the deaths of others. This mindset contrasts dramatically with that of Central’s complacent and greedy generals and other commanders, who are protected from all enemies and fantasize about immortality and unlimited wealth. Olivier, on the other hand, believes that people must work hard for all they have, including their lives, and this will place her in direct opposition with Father’s corrupt Central generals.
When Olivier Waged War On Father & Central
Until danger came knocking, Olivier remained mostly isolated from the concerns of Central and the rest of the military. The homunculus Sloth appeared not long after the Elric brothers arrived at Briggs, as his burrow ran directly beneath the fort. Olivier had never seen a homunculus before, but she put up a valiant fight and overcame Sloth for the time being.
General Raven arrived shortly after and attempted to sell Olivier on Father’s plan, luring her in with the alluring prospect of immortality, perpetual prestige, and glory in a new world created by Father. She attacked General Raven and buried him in wet concrete while Edward and his supporters listened in (as Olivier intended), and then she played along as Edward and his allies listened in (as Olivier planned). Unfortunately, the massive transmutation circle that encircled Amestris was nearly complete, and even Olivier was unable to stop it or deal with the dark Pride that lurked within the tunnel.
Olivier led the Briggs militia who attacked Central on the Promised Day, giving Edward Elric, Izumi Curtis, Colonel Roy Mustang, and others protection while they dealt with Father’s homunculus villains elsewhere. Until Wrath/King Bradley arrived, Olivier won a short triumph over Central’s defenders. She and her brother Alex were fighting for their life against Sloth, who was hell-bent on killing both of them.
Despite the fact that he lacked alchemy, Olivier battled valiantly, and Sloth was finally destroyed once Izumi Curtis and her husband Sig arrived. From then on, Olivier did everything she could to give her supporters more time to deal with Father, and Edward eventually completed the job. Following that, it’s safe to assume Olivier returned to her post at Fort Briggs, once again keeping an eye on the border for Drachma incursions and fighting for what she believes in.
